Hi, I'm Andrew.
I'm a software engineer with over 15 years in the industry and more than 20 years of building websites. Today I help small business owners get found online: building the sites that attract local customers and handling the SEO that ranks them. Not through mass-produced checklists or automated tools that invent problems, but through real work that I handle personally.
Based in Denver, CO. Working with businesses everywhere.

Who is Andrew Kohlhepp?
The short answer: a software engineer who has been building for the web his whole adult life. I hold two bachelor's degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, one in computer science and one in computer engineering, and I've spent more than 15 years as a professional software engineer. Websites came even earlier: for over 20 years I've built them for friends, family, side projects, and businesses of my own.
One of those businesses was an e-commerce site I built and ran for years. At its peak it drew more than 30,000 visitors a day, and nearly all of that traffic came from search. When your own income depends on where you rank, you learn fast which SEO advice actually moves the needle and which is noise.
For several years I've also helped run and grow a social media and SEO business with my two brothers, applying that same playbook to other people's businesses. Aperture by Andrew is where all of it comes into focus: the engineering depth to fix anything on a website, and the firsthand experience of living by search traffic.
Why small businesses
Small businesses are the ones search visibility actually makes or breaks. A national brand can weather a slow month. A local plumber, restaurant, or service business cannot. When a potential customer searches for what you do and your competitor shows up instead, that is a real customer lost.
Most SEO services are either priced for enterprises or built around automated tools that hand you a 200-item checklist and call it an audit. Neither one fits a small business owner who needs to know what to fix first and why it matters.
I built Aperture by Andrew because I wanted to offer something different: a real human who looks at your actual site, explains what is wrong in plain language, and either hands you a ranked action list, fixes it for you, or builds you a new site from scratch. No fluff, no fabricated problems, no upsell on things that do not matter.
About AuditLens
AuditLens is the free tool I built to make this accessible. It fetches your page exactly as a search engine sees it and runs dozens of deterministic checks across SEO, GEO (AI search), and AEO (answer engines). Every finding is a real observation, not an AI-generated guess. The aperture metaphor is intentional: when you can see more of what is affecting your visibility, you can let more customers in.
How I work
Real checks, not guesswork
Every finding comes from a real observation of your actual site. I do not invent problems or pad reports. If a check passes, I say so.
Plain language, always
SEO jargon is a hiding place for vague advice. I explain what is wrong, why it matters to your business, and what to do about it in terms that make sense to a business owner.
Problems first, upsell never
The free AuditLens tool shows you real problems, not a teaser designed to scare you into paying. I built it that way on purpose. Trust comes from being straight with people.
One person, accountable
Your work is not passed to a subcontractor or automated tool after you pay. You deal with me, I do the work, and I stand behind it.
